Oklahoma County District Court
Oklahoma County District Judge Heather Coyle is a lifelong native Oklahoman. She is a product of the Putnam City Public School District, graduating from Putnam City North High School. She then attended the University of Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Judge Coyle attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law, graduating with her Juris Doctor. During her law school career, she served as an intern for the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office as a licensed legal intern. In 1999 she was hired as an Assistant District Attorney, where she served for 20 years under the leadership of District Attorneys Bob Macy, Wes Lane and David Prater.
Upon her election as an Oklahoma County District Judge, Heather Mendoza Coyle became the first Hispanic in the history of Oklahoma to be elected to the judiciary and the first Hispanic to be elected in a countywide race in Oklahoma County history.
Prior to her election in 2018 as District Judge, she served as an Assistant District Attorney for 20 years. During her tenure as an Assistant District Attorney, she supervised the Drug and DUI Court Programs, Misdemeanor Drug Court Program, Remerge, Female Diversion, Mental Health Court, and Day Reporting Programs. During her time with the Diversion Programs, she served on the Remerge Program Committee and the PACT Advisory Board. She also served as a traditional Prosecutor with extensive Jury Trial experience for over 10 years prosecuting drug, property, homicide, violent and domestic violence crimes.
Judge Coyle is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City.

Founding member of Waytable (a program for at risk youth).
A member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
A Master with the William J. Holloway Jr. American Inn of Court where she has served as President and is currently serving as Past President.
Member of Rotary Club 29 of OKC.
Active with the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Oklahoma, where she co-chaired the Centennial Celebration in Norman in 2019.
Recognized by the Journal Record “50 Making a Difference Honoree” Woman of The Year 2019.
Recognized by the OKC Friday Publication as a multiple nominee as “50 Most Powerful Women” in leadership.

Serves on the Oklahoma County Library Board of Trustees.
Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee for the Oklahoma Judicial Conference Executive Board.

2023 Recognized by The Greater OKC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with Certificate of Appreciation for Commitment and Service to the Community.
2023 Oklahoma Top 40 Hispanic Leadership Award by the Oklahoma Hispanic Institute.
Judge Coyle has been married to Billy Coyle for almost 22 years. Billy is a criminal defense lawyer with the Coyle Law Firm. They have three children: Jack 17, Lilly 13, and Lilah 12, and a Boykin Spaniel, “Max”.
