Matilda Clements

Community Volunteer and Event Coordinator

Matilda Clements has been an active community volunteer and entrepreneur since moving to Oklahoma City in 1984.

She has been a member of the Junior League of OKC for 35 years, 24 of which were enjoyed as an Active member, and she is still enthusiastically involved as a Sustainer. She credits every aspect of her passion for voluntarism in the community to her experiences and training from the Junior League. She served in a variety of leadership positions on committees and councils, and also as Membership VP on the Board of Directors. Matilda was honored by The Junior League with the Mary Baker Rumsey Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

Matilda has also been involved in numerous other civic and charitable activities in Oklahoma City, including Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma for 17 years, and she served as The Juliette Low Leadership Society 2020 Luncheon co-chairman.

Matilda was inducted into the Societies of Oklahoma City University in 2021, receiving their Award of Excellence honoring women who have provided outstanding volunteer service and leadership to the community.

She actively supports the work of Neighborhood Services Organization and served on the Board of Directors for six years. The programs of NSO that support youth as they transition out of the Foster Care system are especially important to her. She was honored with NSO’s Good Samaritan Award in 2022 for her work in the community.

Other non-profit involvements include 13 years with Rainbow Fleet Childcare Resource and Referral on the Board of Directors, where she served as Board President. Matilda is also involved with the Oklahoma Breast Institute Board, where she served as President in 2022-2023. Additional engagement on behalf of women’s health has been with Oklahoma Project Woman, serving as co-chair for their annual fundraising event “Celebrate Pink” which provides access to breast healthcare for uninsured women in the metro area.

Additional volunteer engagement meaningful to her life has been with Casady School, All Souls’ Episcopal Church, Festival of the Arts, YWCA, Meyers Theatre for Young Audiences Steering Committee, Philomathea Club’s Little Free Library project benefitting ReadOKC, and Impact Oklahoma, which honored her with the Member of the Year Award.

Integral to Matilda’s early years for service in the community and passion for working with children were her 15 years with the Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma Volunteer Auxiliary, for which she served as President of the Board.

Matilda cultivated her professional retail career as the proprietor of a successful specialty gift shop, The Blue Goose.  Following retirement as a shop owner, she continues to keep her creative skills sharp with her in-home printing business.

Matilda has been happily married for 39 years to her wonderful husband Ed, a life-long resident of Oklahoma City, and President of the 3rd generation Oklahoma business Clements Foods Company.   They have two children, Caitlin and Bryant.  Caitlin, a Broadway producer, lives in New York City, and Bryant, a development executive in the film and television industry, lives in Los Angeles. Matilda is an avid reader, a lover of kitties, and enjoys traveling to both coasts to visit her children.  Matilda’s favorite word is festive, in memory of her late mother, who instilled in her a love for life’s celebrations, compassion for all creatures, and service to others.
