Dr. Kay Robinson

Assistant Vice President, Student Affairs, UCO

University of Central Oklahoma

Dr. Kay Robinson is a mom of two boys, higher education professional, and civic volunteer in OKC. She is the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she has been for fifteen years. In her work, she is responsible for the overall leadership and vision of the departments of Student Life, which provide festive and memorable experiences for college students through involvement, programs, and leadership. In her career, she has worked at Bowling Green State University, Southern Methodist University, and The Ohio State University, before coming to UCO. Kay is a proud graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University for her BBA, Bowling Green State University for her MA, and Maryville University for her EdD.

Kay has been very involved in Edmond and Oklahoma City, having been a member of Leadership OKC’s LOYAL Class IV and Signature Class 38, Leadership Edmond Class 28, and is the co-chair elect for LOYAL in 2024 and 2025. Kay’s past involvement includes serving as the chapter counselor and AVC Treasurer for the SigEp fraternity at Oklahoma State, YMCA Edmond Board, inaugural chair of the Infant Crisis Service’s Young Professionals Board, inaugural chair and founder of Infant Crisis Service’s Bingo for Babies event and she served two terms on the Infant Crisis Services Board of Directors. Her past notable awards include Sigma Phi Epsilon’s Distinguished Volunteer Award and OKC Biz’ 40 under 40 award.

In 2015, Kay became a single mother by design, using a donor to have her biological son, Rex. In 2019, Kay and Rex became a foster family with Angels Foster Family Network and they have welcomed five boys into their home. Their current foster is an awesome six-year-old kindergartner.  Kay also serves as a foster care mentor through the Foster Care Association of Oklahoma where she mentors 2-5 foster families and helps them through the ups and downs of foster care.  She has a particular passion for biological children in foster families as they also open their home and hearts, share their parent(s), and are part of the process while not fully understanding why foster care exists and childhood trauma.

Kay keeps very busy with her two boys' sports and art camp schedules, is the past PTO president and current PTO treasurer of their school, is a member of People’s Church of Edmond, and an avid traveler. She has completed one bucket list item of seeing a game at all 30 Major League Baseball parks before she turned 40 and is four states away from visiting all 50 states before she is 50 (actual visits- not drive through or airports!). After these two are completed, she wants to visit all 7 continents before age 70.
